Barry Norman

December Event featuring Frank Skinner and...

Barry Norman became famous as the presenter of the BBC film programme, starting in 1972, with Film 72. By the time he left, after Film 98, he had become a household name. He moved to Sky, to work on their newly launched film channels.

 

In the late 70’s and 80's, Barry wrote and presented acclaimed television series’, including The Hollywood Greats and the ten-part BBC series, Talking Pictures. Each was backed up by best selling books. His varied broadcasting work has also included BBC Radio 4’s The Today Programme and Channel 4’s Countdown.

 

Barry started his career as a journalist, and was Show Business editor for the Daily Mail, until 1971. Since then, he had contributed to The Guardian, The Observer and, as television critic, The Times.

 

He has a weekly column in the Radio Times, the UK’s best selling listings magazine.
